"Component not found" notification

The "Component not found" notification is due to the fact that Octo Browser components are missing on your device, which are necessary for correct operation. The components could have been removed by the installed antivirus (also, the built-in Windows antivirus), or due to an unstable Internet connection, the components were not downloaded completely.

Component not found

Solution for Windows

Add 2 folders to Windows antivirus and defender exclusion:

  1. C:\Program Files(x86)\Octo Browser This is the folder where Octo Browser is installed by default. If your device does not have a Program Files (x86) folder, you can find Octo Browser in the Program Files (non-x86) folder.
  2. C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Roaming\Octo Browser, where %USER% is your Windows username. This folder is usually hidden. To find it, press Win + R, enter %appdata%, then press OK. In the folder that opens, find the Octo Browser folder and copy the path to it.

To add exclusions to Windows Defender:

  • Select Start -> Settings -> Update and Security -> Windows Security > Virus and Threat Protection.
  • In the Virus & threat protection settings section, select Manage settings, and then in the Exclusions section, click Add or remove exclusions.
  • Update the components in the Octo Browser settings (Settings -> Additional tab -> Update components). Do not run profiles while updating components. Wait until the components will be fully loaded.
